RHK's design elegantly surpasses those based on general purpose, commercially available boards, separate boxes for every function, and a web of cables to contend with when changing experimental setups.
Purpose-Built Hardware, designed and optimized solely for SPM, allows all signal multiplexing, summing, and routing to be handled in the digital domain for ultimate low noise performance.
Matched and optimized state-of-the-art electronics
- Input noise of 2 nV/√Hz, the noise of a 100 ohm resistor
- 64 bit frequency resolution of 5.4pHz on all internal PLL/lock-ins
- Signal accuracy optimized via high-speed single-ended and differential impedance-matched analog inputs and outputs.

provide massive oversampling at 100 MHz, yielding resolution up to 28 bits at acquisition speeds useful for actual measurements. At 10 kHz bandwidth effective resolution exceeds 26 bit.
combine all functions of position, ramping, and modulation in a single DAC. This solution eliminates noise, non-linearity and complexity of multiple DACs, external oscillators, and summing junctions. They also provide massive oversampling at 100 MHz, plus sophisticated computer-modeled output fi lters, allow DC output changes <0.1µV and AC modulations <10µV at frequencies as high as 10 kHz. This enables step sizes <0.1Å over 100 micron scan area with a 100 kHz update rate.
All R9 outputs use UltraDAC technology to allow modulation of all outputs, such as bias voltage and all piezo elements, while synchronously detecting any input signals with the integrated lock-ins and PLLs.
Fully linear power supplies provide low noise density and allow interference-free high frequency operation. No need to limit bandwidth to hide high frequency power supply noise.
Phase Synchronization enabled by single 100 MHz clock assures maximum precision by providing exact synchronization of all excitation and detector references, and eliminates loss of phase accuracy inherent in multi-unit configurations. |
