Description: SPFM (Scanning Polarization Force Microscopy) image of aqueous KOH on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG). The droplets are predominantly trapped at the atomic steps present on the surface and the terraces are almost devoid of liquid. The image was acquired at room temperature with a relative humidity of 35%-40%. The image was acquired on a home-built AFM and the SPM1000 control electronics.
